Choosing Your Tiles

You need to make sure that the tiles will go with your cabinets, counter tops, walls, and flooring.  If these will go in a kitchen then also consider the appliances. 

If you are using granite or formica as a counter top then choose what color in the swirls that you would like to pull out.  Make this your base color of your backsplash or shower surround.  If there are other colors that you like in your countertop, floors, or walls, then add these colors into your tile blend too.  The percentage that is appropriate depends upon you.  Go with whatever is pleasing to your eye.

A good rule of thumb is not to have more than 5 colors blended together.  More than this and you will end up with a very busy backsplash. 

Swimming pools and showers allow for a little more creativity with the tile colors.  There is less to match to so add in whatever colors you like.
